The iPhone 18's delay is reconfirmed by another report
Recent industry reports have once again reaffirmed that Apple plans to delay the launch of the standard iPhone 18 model, marking a significant shift from its long-standing tradition of releasing all iPhone models together each September. According to multiple supply-chain and analyst sources, including Nikkei Asia, Bloomberg, and others, Apple is now expected to prioritize its premium devices in 2026, releasing the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, along with its first foldable iPhone later this year, while holding off on the base iPhone 18 until the first half of 2027. This staggered launch approach is seen as a way for Apple to optimize production resources, respond to rising component costs like memory chips, and focus on higher-margin models amid increasing supply-chain complexity. The delay might also allow the company to better manage manufacturing challenges associated with new form factors such as foldable displays and advanced components.

For consumers, this new schedule means that the standard iPhone 18 won’t be available in the usual fall release window alongside the Pro series, breaking over a decade of Apple’s traditional launch cadence. The base model will reportedly arrive in spring 2027, possibly alongside other new Apple devices such as an updated iPhone Air or “iPhone 18e,” as part of a broader shift toward a two-stage annual release cycle. By separating the launches, Apple aims to ease internal competition among models, extend individual product sales periods, and reduce overlap in its increasingly crowded lineup. While this strategy could deliver smoother availability for high-end units and reduce bottlenecks, it also means longer wait times for those wanting Apple’s standard flagship device.
