iPhone 17e to rectify predecessor's major shortcomings
Apple launched the iPhone 16e in February as its most
affordable model, but the lower price came with notable compromises, including
the removal of MagSafe. While wireless charging is supported, the lack of
magnetic alignment made it feel closer to standard Android-style charging. For
users disappointed by this omission, there’s encouraging news: reports suggest
the iPhone 17e, expected in early 2026, will restore MagSafe support.

Beyond
MagSafe, the iPhone 17e is rumored to include Apple’s second-generation C1X
cellular modem, first introduced in the iPhone Air, along with thinner bezels
on a display otherwise similar to the 16e’s. It’s also expected to feature the
same 18MP front-facing camera found across the iPhone 17 lineup, run on the A19
chip, and retain the single 48MP rear camera, offering meaningful upgrades
while maintaining its budget-friendly positioning.
