iPad Pro rumored to get iPhone 17 Pro vapor chamber cooling in early 2027
Apple is reportedly preparing to introduce vapor chamber cooling to the M6 iPad Pro, set for release in the spring of 2027, in a move to further distinguish it from the iPad Air lineup. The same cooling technology, first added to the A19 Pro chip in the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro, provides a significant boost in sustained performance by improving thermal management. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is already working on integrating the feature into future iPad Pro models, aligning with the company’s typical 18-month upgrade cycle. If accurate, the M6-powered iPad Pro would become the first iPad to benefit from vapor chamber cooling, setting it apart with superior efficiency and performance stability.

The vapor chamber cooling system works by transferring heat away from the chip using a sealed liquid chamber that evaporates and condenses repeatedly to regulate temperature. This method has proven effective in compact devices like the iPhone, where internal space limits the use of traditional active cooling systems. Extending the technology to the iPad Pro makes sense given its slim design and power demands, especially for creative and professional tasks. While vapor chamber systems might not replace active cooling in larger devices like the MacBook Pro or Mac Studio, their use in thinner, fanless products like the iPad Pro and MacBook Air highlights Apple’s continued push for efficiency without compromising performance or form factor.
