iPhone 17 may go fully eSIM as Apple plans case redesign

With the iPhone 17 expected to launch on Tuesday, September 9, new leaks indicate that Apple may be preparing to expand its shift to eSIM-only models across more regions, including the EU. While U.S. iPhones have already gone fully eSIM, sources told MacRumors that Apple Authorized Resellers in Europe are being instructed to prepare for iPhones without physical SIM card slots. Alongside this transition, Apple is also rumored to be refreshing its official Clear Case, suggesting both subtle hardware changes and a broader accessory update for the new flagship.

The move toward eSIM is not entirely unexpected, as it offers enhanced security and convenience for users. Google has already taken a similar step, making the Pixel 10 series eSIM-only in the U.S. Meanwhile, leaks surrounding Apple’s updated iPhone 17 Pro Clear Case with MagSafe suggest design tweaks that reduce the transparent portions of the case, with a panel covering most of the back and concealing the MagSafe connectors. Shared by tipsters @MajinBuOfficial and @SonnyDickson, these images hint at a more streamlined accessory lineup to complement Apple’s latest device.
