Apple unveils iPhone Duo
Apple has officially introduced the iPhone Duo, marking the tech giant's first entry into the foldable smartphone market. Constructed with a polished grade 5 titanium frame and a durable precision hinge, the device features a compact 5.4-inch outer Super Retina XDR display when closed and unfolds to reveal an expansive 7.6-inch inner display. The inner screen features a special nano-texture finish that minimizes glare and crease visibility, while a hidden FaceTime camera sits beneath the display panel to keep the canvas uninterrupted.
Engineered for both performance and durability, the iPhone Duo is powered by Apple's new A20 Pro chip and features an advanced thermal management system with a custom vapor chamber[cite: 5]. To ensure long-term structural integrity, the device utilizes Ceramic Shield on the back, Ceramic Shield 2 on the outer screen, and a custom multi-layer inner display lamination designed to relieve bend stress. Side-button Touch ID, IP68 water and dust resistance, and future support for Apple Pencil (USB-C) further highlight the hardware capabilities.
The device introduces a versatile software experience powered by iOS 27, Apple Intelligence, and Siri AI. Designed to take full advantage of the dual-screen form factor, iOS 27 enables seamless side-by-side multitasking, proportional app scaling between displays, and dedicated camera modes. Users can interact with the main display using enhanced multitasking capabilities or take advantage of the compact cover screen for quick daily tasks without losing visual continuity.
In terms of photography, the iPhone Duo comes equipped with an advanced camera system centered around a 48MP Fusion Main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera. The main camera features zero shutter lag, low-light optimizations, sensor-shift optical image stabilization, and an integrated 2x optical-quality Telephoto. Offered in Star White and Night Sky finishes, pre-orders for the iPhone Duo start on Friday, October 16, with official store availability beginning Friday, October 23.
