Next year, Apple is rumored to make changes to its smartphone lineup. The company may replace the Plus model with the iPhone 17 Air, a very thin device that could have just one rear camera.
According to a new report, the iPhone 17 Air has entered the "new product introduction" (NPI) phase. This is the first step toward production, where Apple and its suppliers work together to check if the design and manufacturing methods will work.
During this phase, they also need to make sure the assembly process is practical. Because of this, some small design changes might happen to match manufacturing needs and costs. After this, a small test production line will be set up to make sure everything is going as planned.
Though it's still early in the process, the iPhone 17 Air is on track for production, meaning Apple is likely replacing the Plus model for next year. We'll see if the Air model does better in sales.
